Harbor Health Acquires Rippl

By Kris Engskov
Rippl Co-founder & CEO

Friends of Rippl,

I’m reaching out to share some exciting news.

Today, Rippl was acquired by Harbor Health. Harbor is a pioneering health insurance provider and primary/specialty care clinic group headquartered in Austin, Texas, known for its relentless focus on improving the primary care experience for all consumers—especially seniors.

As part of this acquisition, our investors—including ARCH Venture Partners, General Catalyst, GV, F-Prime, JSL Health, Mass General Brigham Ventures and Kin Ventures—are making a significant new investment in the combined companies to accelerate our shared vision.

More than four years ago, a small group of optimists and doers—each of us dementia caregivers ourselves—set out to tackle one of healthcare’s hardest challenges: ensuring seniors living with dementia (and their caregivers) have the support they need to remain at home and avoid unnecessary emergency room visits and hospital stays.

Along the way, we learned critical lessons about what it takes to deliver expert dementia care that truly works. Most importantly, we learned that dementia care is most effective when deeply integrated with primary care. Rippl’s earliest successes came through partnerships with provider groups and payviders who understood how to bring dementia care into the world of value-based care. I’m incredibly proud that our care model continues to demonstrate far better outcomes at far lower cost for this uniquely complex population, as well as their caregivers and families. And we’ve only just begun.

We’re thrilled to join Harbor Health and help scale this platform as part of their broader effort to deliver condition-focused care. As we begin this next chapter, we’re doubling down on our mission to build better care infrastructure for seniors living with dementia—and expanding our ability to reach the many families who urgently need support.

We first met Clay Johnston, Harbor Health’s Co-Founder and CMO, more than three years ago as we began expanding into Texas. As a neurologist, Clay understands firsthand the daily challenges faced by patients living with dementia, along with their caregivers and families—and how inadequate today’s clinical and care infrastructure remains. We’re grateful to Clay and to Tony Miller, Harbor’s Co-Founder and CEO, for their shared vision to bring expert dementia care to the forefront of primary care—right where it belongs.

We are deeply grateful to the many Ripplers who joined this movement and worked tirelessly to get us here. Today marks the start of an exciting new chapter, and I can’t thank our team enough for the care, commitment, and compassion they bring every day to our patients and caregivers.

As we have always said, our seniors deserve so much better—and that’s exactly what we’re going to deliver. Thank you to each of you for your support, guidance, and partnership along the way.

We’re just getting started…

Kris
